Here is an update from CSKT Division of Fire:

Mile Marker 104 Fire Update September 6, 2024

Start Date: September 4, 2024 Cause: Human-Caused

Location: 5 miles west of Dixon, MT along Highway 200.

Estimated Size: 468 acres Containment: 10%

Personnel: Division of Fire Overhead, 10 Smokejumpers, 1 Type 1 Helicopter, 2 Dozers, 2 Skidgens, & 6 Type 6 Engines
Incident Command: Local Type 3 organization, Richard Fisher, Incident Commander.

Yesterday
Firefighters conducted a burnout to strengthen control lines on the northwest flank along Highway 200.

Current Status
Firefighters will continue building handline on the south flank and dozers will continue establishing lines along the fire’s west flank. Aviation resources will support with water drops to cool hotspots and reduce fire spread. Engine crews will spray water to douse hot spots to prevent flare-ups. Crews will conduct mop up operations along the fire perimeter, systematically patrolling along a grid of 100 feet into the fire’s perimeter, to detect and extinguish any residual heat sources.

The start of the fire is under investigation.

Safety
Mission Valley Power will be in the area replacing some power poles and we urge the public to slow down when driving in the fire area and please do not stop on the Hwy to take pictures. Fire equipment, firefighters, and MVP personnel will be along Highway 200.

Closures: None

No Evacuations at this time and No structures are threatened.
